We woke up this morning to a few new inches of snow, and it has snowed lightly off and on all day. With no temperatures above freezing in the forecast, I think we are pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas.
The kids are officially out for their winter break now, so a part of the day was spent outside playing in the snow. Charbie loves the snow about as much as the kids do, so he had a great time romping around, too.
The kids even had me outside sledding with them. The hill behind the house is small, but it allows you to get up enough speed before crashing, which is always fun. Just for fun, I recorded a little video. If I were you, I would save my ears and turn down the volume before you watch it. 🙂 (I hope this works, I have never loaded a video before!)
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!
Alright, so we didn’t really have that much snow, but it was still enough to get out and play in. We headed out sledding, and ended up building a dirt/snowman. There was also a snowball fight, but I was safe thanks to the camera. I knew there was a reason I take it with me everywhere I go. 🙂
And my personal favorite shot of the day…
“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!
…This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!
I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”
– William Arthur Ward
And how is the best way to welcome in this new year?? Why, sledding of course! It was a little too cold and windy for comfort, but that didn’t stop us from hitting the hills.
We tried a new sledding hill today. It was a little steeper...
...a little faster...
...and the jump was... Well, let's just say that William came home with a bruised bottom.
After five wonderful days off, it was incredibly difficult to go back to work today. We didn’t do anything spectacular over the long weekend. We weren’t able to make it down to Boise as we had planned. But we were able to sleep in and take our time getting dressed, if we even got dressed at all. We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving and we all had a great time when we went sledding. We decorated our house for Christmas and we watched movies, lots and lots of movies. We drank hot chocolate and watched the kids build snowmen. We did all those little things that you wish you could do during the week, but you have to work instead. It was a much-needed break. Unfortunately… it ended.
