When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~John Lennon
“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” ~Kahlil Gibran
Today is one of my favorite days of the year. I have always been hopelessly in love with spring, so when she returns after a long winter, it always makes my heart smile. And today just so happened to be one of the most beautiful starts to spring I have ever seen. From a morning walk to an afternoon on the beach to a sunset stroll around Pea Island, most of the day was spent outside enjoying the warm sunshine. If today had decided to continue on forever, I don’t think I would have complained one bit… Happy Spring my friends.
It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain
If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden. ~Attributed to Claudia Ghandi
Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
There has never been a cat
Who couldn’t calm me down
Past my chair.
Few things are as relaxing as scooping this little guy up, draping him over your shoulder, and resting your head on his warm side as he purrs contentedly in your ear and pads your back with his paws. Or simply petting his sun-warmed fur as he naps in the sunshine. Some people have therapy animals, and while this may be unbelievable to some, I assure you that there are definitely pets who have an incredible healing power. Remi is one of them. Through all of life’s ups and downs, all the chaos that occurs on a regular basis, all the worry and wonder, all the uncertainty, Remi remains constant. I’m here, he says, as he curls up on your lap. Pet me. Love me. Breathe.
And suddenly, all is well with the world.

“It’s opener, out there, in the wide, open air.” ~Dr. Seuss
The stories and quotes from Dr. Seuss have been such an inspiration for us this year that it seemed only natural to continue our Dr. Seuss theme on Halloween. The kids are such good sports when it comes to dressing up. William had already planned on being The Cat in the Hat, so the twins fell into the role of Thing 1 and Thing 2 very easily. Some sweat pants and shirts, white fabric, a striped hat and a couple of blue wigs and we were all set. They looked great once we had it all put together. Trick-or-Treating was a hit as usual and the kids all brought home enough candy to sink a battle ship, but I suppose that is how it should be!
“Oh, the places you’ll go!” ~Dr. Seuss
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~Mark Twain
Facebook has been full of great inspirational and heart-felt pictures, sayings and quotes lately. It seems as though the common thought has been to share the good, the positive. Empower us to be who we are, follow our hearts, live our dreams. Positive Atmosphere puts up some of my favorites, and they seem to get them from a little bit of everywhere. The Organic Sister and Wandering Trader have some goods ones also. While I could do an entire 5-page post of all the ones I have “liked” lately, I thought I would just share a few of my favorites with you. If you have a favorite quote or saying, I would love to hear it!
