Tea Anyone?

Would anyone care to join me for a cup of tea?

Perhaps you prefer cocoa with a veeeeery large marshmallow?

Or maybe you would like a mug of both? I was thinking I would make some coffee next… ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom seems to like Pinterest about as much as I do. She regularly sends me cute projects, quotes, kid crafts, just about anything she thinks I will like. (Which happens to be just about everything…) She recently sent me a picture of some crochet snails, and after a little searching, I managed to find the pattern. (You can find itย hereย if you are interested.)

dsc_0088I just fell in love with these little guys and have now made four. They are super easy to make. Well, all except for the antennae, which are just a little too small for my big fingers. I still have a dozen more color combinations I would like to make, so who knows how many I will end up with when I am finished.

dsc_0073Thank you for sharing, Mom. Keep the super cute ideas and projects coming! Please. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is always so much fun. Normally I buy everyone a little stuffy and more candy than they need, but this year our family is doing a sugar challenge, so I had to get a little more creative. Since today is a holiday, we are technically allowed to consume sugar without it counting against us, but I still wanted to make the day a little healthier than I had in the past.

This is where Pinterest came into play. I simply searched “Valentine,” and then spent the next hour perusing some of the cutest ideas on the planet. I had quite a list of ideas, but to do them all would have been overkill, so I had to narrow it down. I then had to narrow it down even further once I realized that some of the things I would need would not be available in our little town.

dsc_0086I had a blast putting together these silly little gifts for the family. My kids may be getting older, but they still love getting things like play-dough and hot wheels. The fun thing was that I got to make them a “Valentine” lunch with Awesome-sauce, “Wild” animal crackers, and an orange with a cute little message on it. Rob’s treats were a little more grown up, but with cashews and sushi, I think even he is looking forward to lunch today. ๐Ÿ™‚

Think you Pinterest for all the fun ideas! Wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

While searching for a new crochet project to work on, I came upon a super-cute picture of a monster crayon holder. I could not find the pattern, so I decided to see if I could figure it out by myself. I usually do not trust my skills enough to try something on my own, but these little guys seemed relatively straight forward.

I actually was able to get the body on the first try, but the head took me a couple tries to get it the way I wanted. The horns took a couple tries, too. My problem was usually that I made parts a little too big. Or too pointy. I am still not sure I like the fangs, but until I figure out another way to make them, these will have to do.

I had to make some adjustments after the first one, moving fangs and such, and they do look a little different from the picture I saw, but I am pretty happy with how they turned out. I think I may make a few more using different color combinations. I am just excited that I was able to make something without a step-by-step pattern!
