August 16, 2018 – Back to School

Despite my best efforts, I could not slow summer down, and on the 16th of August, it was time to send the kids back to school.

Liam walked out the door to his first day of high school like he had been doing it all his life. He comes home for lunch everyday, and together we watch about 20 minutes of a movie of his choice. It takes several days to get through a movie, but I really enjoy the time with him. He still loves football and dreams of playing in college and beyond. We are three weeks into the school year, and he is still putting in great effort with his classes, which is a major improvement over the last couple of years. I think he is really enjoying the high school environment.

The twins started 8th grade with sunburns from swimming earlier in the week. Luckily the peeling did not start until Friday and they had the weekend to get it over with. They were extremely grateful for that! They are both doing great. Nathan is enjoying football and Catheryn is rocking cross country. They still eat lunch together with their group of friends, which makes me happy. I love that they are still such good friends at 13. They are both doing really well in their classes and are enjoying most of their teachers.

As for me, I am slowly adjusting to them being gone again. It takes me 5 minutes to get used to them being home, and 5 weeks to get used to them being gone…

Liam is off to 9th grade and the twins are in 8th.

  1. When my eldest daughter first started school I cried and cried…with the second and third it was a lot easier…but it never really changes from one generation to another..our babies are growing up into mini adults and learning to fly on their own….In many ways it makes me feel proud of myself as it was me that took them there ,,,bought them home…and nagged to get the homework done…Now they nag their grandchildren ! Well done all of you ..you are an amazing family

    • It is amazing how fast the school years go. I am proud of them for all they have done, and I am proud of us, too. We are still a close family, and that makes me extremely happy, especially since they are all in their teen years!

  2. How lucky to be so close to the H.S. and to have a long lunch! I remember having that luxury in elementary school growing up, but none of my kids ever came home for lunch once they were in school. I think of all the plastic baggies you’re probably saving. 😉

  3. The kids are looking so grown up way too fast!!! They all look amazing!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
