Last spring we purchased two apple trees to plant in pots in our back yard. The other day (another beautiful sunshiny day here in New Mexico) I decided to go out back to check on our trees. I can see them from our kitchen window and it looked to me like they were getting buds, so, excited for the upcoming bloom, I went out to see how they were doing. It appears as though winter has been kind to them. I am sure they will bloom at the first possible moment.
We have an elevated back yard, so you have to climb a ladder to get up to it. As I was climbing back down, I took one more glance at the trees, only to see two furry little felines watching me from our room. Apparently they were curious about how the trees were doing as well. 🙂

My mom seems to like Pinterest about as much as I do. She regularly sends me cute projects, quotes, kid crafts, just about anything she thinks I will like. (Which happens to be just about everything…) She recently sent me a picture of some crochet snails, and after a little searching, I managed to find the pattern. (You can find it here if you are interested.)
I just fell in love with these little guys and have now made four. They are super easy to make. Well, all except for the antennae, which are just a little too small for my big fingers. I still have a dozen more color combinations I would like to make, so who knows how many I will end up with when I am finished.
Thank you for sharing, Mom. Keep the super cute ideas and projects coming! Please. 🙂
Because sometimes we need a good chuckle first thing in the morning… 😀
The groundhog must have heard me talking, and since he and Mother Nature area obviously good friends, he arranged for a change in the weather. After two of the most beautiful days EVER, we woke up Monday morning to this…
One of the things I love most about this area is that when it snows it is absolutely beautiful, but that snow does not feel the need to stick around for months. By the afternoon, the sun was shining, making yet another amazing day.
So while I did enjoy the snow, I would still like to issue an official apology to the groundhog. You were right. It is, in fact, still winter after all…
The weather on Friday and Saturday was absolutely amazing! When you stepped outside, you almost had to laugh at the groundhog, because winter was nowhere to be found!
Beautiful sun up above, but already shady in the canyon.
I walked up the Frey Trail on Friday, partly because it felt so good to be outside, and partly because Rob was walking home, so I knew I would bump into him en route. I made it to the top when he came walking towards me, and we enjoyed a nice walk down together.
After a quiet winter, it appears as though lots of people have taken this trail lately!
There have been a lot of deer and elk in the area lately, so I was kind of hoping to see some out and about, but they must have all been enjoying an afternoon nap. There was plenty of evidence of their presence, though. Maybe next time. 🙂
Valentine’s Day is always so much fun. Normally I buy everyone a little stuffy and more candy than they need, but this year our family is doing a sugar challenge, so I had to get a little more creative. Since today is a holiday, we are technically allowed to consume sugar without it counting against us, but I still wanted to make the day a little healthier than I had in the past.
This is where Pinterest came into play. I simply searched “Valentine,” and then spent the next hour perusing some of the cutest ideas on the planet. I had quite a list of ideas, but to do them all would have been overkill, so I had to narrow it down. I then had to narrow it down even further once I realized that some of the things I would need would not be available in our little town.
I had a blast putting together these silly little gifts for the family. My kids may be getting older, but they still love getting things like play-dough and hot wheels. The fun thing was that I got to make them a “Valentine” lunch with Awesome-sauce, “Wild” animal crackers, and an orange with a cute little message on it. Rob’s treats were a little more grown up, but with cashews and sushi, I think even he is looking forward to lunch today. 🙂
Think you Pinterest for all the fun ideas! Wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
