Fort Union Rendezvous is the biggest weekend of the year here at the fort. It is basically four days of living history. The event takes place every June and draws thousands of visitors. Both of the twins volunteered for the weekend. Catheryn dressed up for Living History, Nathan worked in the blacksmith shop and Rob and I both worked so we were able to sit in on some presentations and demonstrations. Rob’s sister, Mary Beth, and her husband, Jim, were here so we were able to share the weekend with them as well, which made it that much better.
A lot of time and planning went into the long weekend, so it was neat to see such a successful event in action, but it sure seemed quiet when it was all over. I guess now it is time to start planning for next year. If you happen to find yourself in this neck of the woods come mid-June, you should stop in, it is not everyday you have a chance to step back in time to the 1850s.
