Farewell Summer

It seems like just last week we were all excited about the start of summer vacation. We were looking forward to three whole months of rest and relaxation without the stress and worry that school sometimes brings. But, as they usually do, summer flew by, leaving us to wonder where on earth it went, because surely it did not stick around as long as it was supposed to.

Despite our protests, time has come for school to begin again. This past Wednesday I woke the kiddos up at o’dark thirty in order to get ready for their first day. Liam is heading into 6th grade while Catheryn and Nathan are tackling 5th.

Grade school is almost a thing of the past in our house. Pretty soon it will be all middle school and young adults where my babies in elementary used to stand. Once again, time, I beg of you, please slow down. It does not seem like all that long ago when I was wishing for the opposite. Sleepless nights followed by days filled with crying and whining and non-stop demands. I was not sure if we were going to make it through, but make it we did, and now it seems like a lifetime ago…

I want them to stay young, but at the same time, I am excited to see what the future holds for them. They are bright shining lights and I know they are going to do great things. I just know it.

So, my children, as you climb on the bus each morning, please remember that I love you dearly. And I am so very proud of you. Always have been. Always will be…

  1. Time really has flown by. Seems like just yesterday Will was sitting in his high chair with a cheerio on his head and the twins were sharing a crib. But look at all the fun adventures you’ve had as a family with so many more to come. And those three wonderful kids of yours are going to grow up to be amazing adults! We love you guys so much!! 🙂
