“There is no sport equal to that which aviators enjoy while being carried through the air on great white wings.” ~Wilbur Wright
In honor of Martin Luther King day, the National Parks were offering free admission. Since we had not made it over to the Wright Brothers National Memorial yet, we decided to take them up on their offer. This, of course, was almost two weeks ago, but since I have not been very motivated lately, I am just now getting around to sharing it.
The museum was quite fascinating and we enjoyed a funny and informative talk from one of the rangers. The highlight for the kids was the plane that they were able to play on. They spent a good hour climbing all over the thing. Needless to say, a great time was had by all and it was neat to learn a little bit more about Wilbur and Orville Wright.
“The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who, in their grueling travels across trackless lands in prehistoric times, looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space, at full speed, above all obstacles, on the infinite highway of the air.” ~Orville Wright
