Pennsylvania Summer

It seems as if just last week we were down in Tennessee, planning our drive to Pennsylvania. And yet, here we are, three months later, almost at the end of our first Pennsylvania summer. Time, as always, has marched on much faster than we had hoped.IMG_1552 summer It is really quite beautiful here. It has rained regularly throughout the summer so everything is still so green, reminding me of spring in other parts in the country. I had never been in a place where the fire danger stayed low all summer long. We experienced the great cicadas for the first time this year, too. I had no idea bugs could be so incredibly loud! We also enjoyed an amazing population of lightning bugs. Deer passed by on a daily basis, allowing us to watch the babies grow and lose their spots. Perhaps the neatest animals, though, were the ones we rarely see. We crossed paths with a spotted skunk, a raccoon and even an opossum. Being so close to Lancaster County, we saw many Amish buggies out on the road. The rolling farmland and endless cornfields make for a beautiful backdrop on country roads. I am not sure we ever got used to the humidity or the gnats, but we have really enjoyed our time here. DSC_0743 summer If all goes as planned, we will be back up here next summer. There is still so much to see and do. For now, though, it is time to get ready to roll. Having been parked under dripping maple trees all summer, Waldo is in desperate need of a bath. By the end of the month, we will be Kentucky boundโ€ฆ

  1. Oh how I envy you !!! Said it before and I say it again..you will never evr regret making your life changing decision…not just for you and Rob… see how the children have seen and heard and witnessed things that other children will never see in their lifetime.
Carry on the good brave work and prove to the world that there is an alternative

  2. Time stops for no man or woman, no matter how hard you try to make it happen. You have all seen so much, and there is still so much more to see. I think that’s what I love about traveling, all the new and interesting things. Some things I could see over and over and never tire of them. Some day your travels will bring you back to our part of the country, and for that, I am really looking forward to. We love and miss you all so much and would love to see you more often. Until then, your blog is the next best thing.
    Keep on posting! ๐Ÿ™‚
