Awaiting the Groundhogs Decision

I apologize for all the weather posts lately, but this time of year, it is always a topic of conversation. So, please bear with me, as I am about to post another one. I would like to say that this will be my last one for a while, but I can make no guarantees.

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. The annual event in which a groundhog tells us that we will either have to survive six more weeks of winter, or we will enjoy an early spring. It seems to me that most years Punxsutawney Phil is the bearer of bad news, and we are stuck with more winter. But from time to time…

A little while back I had considered writing him a letter. Nothing too threatening, of course. My thought was simply to encourage him to call for an early spring. Perhaps provide him with a little motivation to do so. But I decided against it, and now we find ourselves on the Eve of his decision.

Punxsutawney Phil knows that, after the hard winter most of the country has had so far, we would all like to see spring. I have myself convinced that he will not see his shadow in the morning. If he does, however, there is a huge possibility that I won’t make it into work. I might just end up on a plane instead, flying across the country to pay a visit to a certain groundhog. If that happens, well…

UPDATE: Looks like I will be going to work after all! Thank you Punxsutawney for the great prediction!! We are looking forward to that early spring 🙂
