A Winter Wonderland

The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination.  ~Terri Guillemets

Giant Springs State Park is just down the road from our house and is one of our favorite places to visit during the summer.  When we went out for a visit today, we were greeted by a different place entirely.  It was hard to see through the thick steam rising off the water.  There were geese huddled all around, enjoying the water that always stays above freezing.  The trees were weighed down by heavy ice and snow.  It was an amazing sight, and has now become a favorite winter place as well.

A popular thoughtful spot in the summer is a lonely deserted bench in the winter.

Thick steam rises off the water, making everything around take on a new look.

The sun creeps through the ice-covered trees.

To see what the park looks like during the summer, check out the original Giant Springs post.
